GTC Sample Portfolio: A Few Adjustments and a New Purchase

As stated in the first article for the GTC Sample Portfolio, we’re keeping our quantitative processes private; but will share the moves we make on an actual portfolio. And please note our risk statement.

Running a little behind here on the public side of things. We posted the adjustments in the Member Area yesterday. For Tier One Members, the actual positions as we took them off, and put them on. For Tier Two Members, we basically explained how the position we have created is a complete tool in your ‘trading toolbox’; in and of itself. It’s advantages, and it’s drawbacks.

So here’s what we did.

For the QQQ 452-448 Put spread we bought at 1.41? Sold it. And basically? So that it’s said … I got whipsawed. In other words, I had the QQQ Put spread as a type of insurance against a bad reaction to the NVDA earnings release. We we rallied. So I ‘dumped the protection’ of the put spread at 0.59. Only to get blindsided (as I think most of the market did) by that hot Services PMI number, as the market tanked.

We’ve been sitting on a nice profit on the ‘risk-mix’ trade. And at the same time, I saw an opportunity to morph it into another trade completely (Tier Two members, we just posted this thought process).

So for the GTC Sample Portfolio. or for every $50,000 in an account; we sold our QQQ outright position. Sold 22 QQQ at 453.55 to exit the position. We sold our SHY outright position. Sold 212 SHY at 81.36 to exit the position. We sold our SPY outright position. Sold 15 SPY at 525.84 to exit the position. We are keeping our TLT position, and the TLT Call that we sold against it.

We are left with the SPY strangle. And we are profitable there.

We are left with the USO strangle. And we are profitable there.

Then, for every $50,000, or for the GTC Sample Portfolio, we bought 332 TBF filled at $24.24 to open.

That’s where we stand in the short-term trading book at the moment. Up something like +1.72% for the month; not counting the core positions.

Stay safe and trade well …
