Usually at the end of each month, I’ll review any portfolios I manage; in a look ahead to the next month. And as we do that for the GTC Sample portfolio, that next month is the month of December. Which means we are ending out 2023.
And I am no different than anyone else in Finance. The biggest thing I’m thinking as we close out 2023, is not to screw anything up.
Just by way of a review, in the segment of the Portfolio that holds longer-term positions we hold small, half-sized positions which are …
1 Costco (COST) at $506.90
4 Diageo PLC (DEO) at $152.06
30 Emerging Market Sovereign Debt ETF (PCY) at $18.72
13 Invesco S&P 500 High Dividend Low Volatility ETF (SPHD) at $42.30
13 Kroger (KR) at $45.92
6 SPDR Bloomberg High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) at $91.17
3 Union Pacific (UNP) at $206.73
9 Utilities Sector SPDR ETF (XLU) at $62.22
13 Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) at 44.59
15 WisdomTree U.S. Efficient Core Fund (NTSC) at $37.42
Keep in mind that each of these pays a dividend, and those dividends have been counted in the ol’ register of the Sample Portfolio. Also keep in mind the rules of the GTC Sample Portfolio: on Friday, 4 times in every month, we have a $35.00 deposit.
One segment of the portfolio contains a particular low-effort Index strategy that I employ. For the month of October and November that strategy told us to remain flat; and for the month of December 2023 we are going to remain flat as well.
As last month, for this month we are buying 30 Day Treasury Bills in the amount of $57,000.00. So 57 $1,000 30 Day Treasury Bills.
We may have a small trade here and there this month, although any trades made will be higher probability bets, that can easily be defended.
I will update the results page in the next week or so.
