GTC Sample Portfolio: Taking Profit Near End of Month

Note: As stated in the first article for the GTC Sample Portfolio, we’re keeping our quantitative processes private; but will share the moves we make on an actual portfolio, and then show the results via a Grid, VAMI and performance statistics. And please note our risk statement. You can find the previous post for the GTC Sample Portfolio here.

We are approaching GDP on Thursday and more importantly; Core PCE on Friday. So we posted adjustments to our trades in the Member Area earlier in the day … but so that it’s posted here on the public side of the house.

The first task? Was to close the IWM Call spread that we had on; which we did by closing that call spread down at 0.01 per; or 0.01 shy of maximum profit.

We then unwound the TLT Arbitrage that we had going on. There? We made money (It’s an arbitrage after all). But not as much money as I would have hoped for. So … the first task this morning, was to dump the 94 call at 0.64 per. Next, we exited all of the TBF position, selling 300 to close at $23.41. While we were waiting intra-day to see what was happening with TLT, we also closed down the UNG 16 call; also at 0.01 per, or 0.01 shy of maximum profit.

We then sold to close the 100 TLT at $94.24. And don’t forget for the GTC Sample Portfolio, there is $20.67 in the TLT dividend that we captured as well.

All we are left with at this point is the USO and PLTR puts sold. I’m more than fine with letting those two puts go to expiry on Friday to collect the maximum profit. We also still have the long, 415 TBIL position.

And of course, the core positions (unhedged) of …

6 shares of Medtronic (MDT) at $82.979
3 shares of International Business Machines (IBM) at $170.06
30 shares of Invesco’s Emerging Markets Sovereign Debt ETF (PCY) at $18.72
13 shares of Invesco’s S&P 500 High Dividend Low Volatility ETF (SPHD) at $42.31
9 shares of SPDR’s Utilities Sector Fund ETF (XLU) at $62.22
6 shares of SPDR’s High Yield Bond ETF (JNK) at $91.17
13 shares of Kroger (KR) at $45.92
1 share of Coscto (COST) at $506.90
3 shares of Union Pacific (UNP) at $206.73
13 shares of Wells Fargo (WFC) at $41.82
4 shares of Diageo PLC (DEO) at $152.06
15 shares of WisdomTree’s U.S. Efficient Core Fund at $35.67
3 shares of Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) at $198.48

Looks like a small month in the black again this month; and we’ll keep moving it forward.

Stay safe and trade well …
